Ryan had his annual this morning - his school frowns on late arrivals so I brought him to work with me and then we left after my class. We just spent 1 1/2 hours in the pool - hope my sunscreen held! I bought an inflatable turtle at Publix - he has a blast with it. Is still too nervous to get in the pool by himself though.

So far it's been a pretty lazy Saturday. Worked for awhile on the playset (mainly Jack.) Ryan and I planted cilantro seeds. Made Paula Deen's red potato salad.
Last weekend we went to the Scottish games. It was hot (and Jack and I got bad sunburns because I forgot the sun screen) but we had a good time. Come to find out, my ancestors may be from one of the Scottish clans - they likely changed their last name to drop the Mc off when they moved to the U.S.
They had lots of kids games and Ryan did well - in fact, he was second in his age group when we left!
Jack had a sausage roll; Ryan and I shared a bridie (meat pastry), baked beans, potatoes, and a Scottish Egg. Yum! The pastry was really good.
I'll spare you picture of my sunburn.

So, what's my favorite animals at the zoo? The otters of course. I loved to go watch them when I was in grad school at the small local zoo - they always seemed so playful. It really took my mind off of things. When we went to Zoo Atlanta in April, we went by the otters exhibit multiple times to watch them play (and nap in a big huddle.)
The Easter Bunny even brought me a Webkinz Otter.
I am my own harshest critic - I want to be perfect in everything I do. There - I admitted it. It is really getting old. So, I hereby name this the Summer of Imperfection - lots of fast food, a messy house, less than stellar performance - bring it on! LOL.
5 years ago the three of us were sitting in a very cold hospital room recovering from the ordeal that was Ryan's birth. Tonight to celebrate (not having to be on a liquid diet like 5 years ago) we went out for all you can eat crab legs at Sardi's. We splurged and bought Ryan the kid's meal ($12 - ouch!) - he ate all of it and some of mine (the little turkey - he hasn't been eating well lately but he can sure eat some crab legs!)
I made Ryan a cake again this year - a raccoon. He seemed to love it. PSA: black icing will dye your fingers and lips!
